Our client, a long established and highly successful engineering supplies business is seeking an Accounts Supervisor to join their growing team, with responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day transactions, ensuring postings across the ledgers are correct and in a timely manner, whilst supporting the production of the management accounts and group reporting returns.   

The Role:

Management of all aspects of the nominal ledger 

Review of the entries made by the bookkeeper 

Direct Debit Management and Nominal Cashbook Postings 

Reconciliation of Supplier  

Generating supplier payments for Director Approval 

Reconciliation of banks GBP & Currency and invoice discounting accounts 

Calculation and posting of accruals and prepayments 

Updating and maintaining the fixed asset register 

Analysis of overheads expenditure 

Cover and support others within the finance department to ensure deadlines are met 

VAT returns and VAT account reconciliations 

Intercompany Reporting and reconciliations 

Credit Referencing for Customers and maintain credit limits / checks  

Supporting the year-end accounts preparation  

Oversee and participate in annual onsite Audit 

Various other ad-hoc accounting duties as required 

The Candidate:

AAT Level 4 Qualified or equivalent gained from working in similar industrial settings 

Exceptional communication skills 

Analytical with strong attention to detail 

Strong excel skills 

Motivated and success driven 

Experience of working to tight deadlines 

Ability to guide employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used 

A solid understanding of accounting principles 

Sage / equivalent accounts package experience 

Payroll experience (desirable)
